Personal favorite (not saying "best") -

1987-06-21

I was at this Berkeley Greek daylit show.

Phil forgot a few words, while putting his tongue in cheek, literally.

It's all I can remember from the show. Of course it's here on the archive.

At the June 22, 1986 GreeK there's a good review of that Box of Rain.
Phil came up with an amusing change in the lyrics:
Please don't be surprised,
if you find me forgetting the words!"

I find it hard to judge these later shows, when a number like Box of Rain evokes a lot of emotion and maybe even nostalgia for a favorite song being revived.

The audience seems to be cheering them not so much for how well they're performing the song, but that they're playing it at all...


I'll listen to that 1973 version suggested above.
